ATHENS - The Georgia football team had its final practice on Friday afternoon before taking a week off for spring break. The Bulldogs will take off next week before returning to practice at the Woodruff practice fields on Monday, March 17.
³I think the week off gives the guys who are banged up a much better chance to be ready when we get back and for them not to lose any time this spring,² said head coach Mark Richt
Although Richt said he got ³a little upset with the offense² during the latter half of practice, he singled out freshmen Dontavius Jackson and Richard Samuel as well as redshirt freshman Caleb King for their efforts.
³Our young backs had some nice blocks and runs today and I think after the last two days, they have all gained some confidence,² Richt said. ³Richard actually picked up a linebacker blitzing today and Dontavius had a couple touchdown runs.²
Several of those players who will get a chance to recover from injuries are redshirt freshman Chris Little (foot), sophomore Bruce Figgins (ankle) and senior Marcus Washington (shoulder).
The Bulldogs play their annual G-Day spring scrimmage at Sanford Stadium on Saturday, April 5, at 2 p.m.
