VIDEO: Scouting Jeremy Longo

Fort Lauderdale, FL - Take a look at Georgia commitment Jeremy Longo in this game during the 2007 season.

Jeremy Longo

I flew down to South Florida to see just what the Dawgs had coming their way in young Longo. Although a lot was asked of him, Longo, for the most part, delivered when his team needed him. He made plays – forcing fumbles and pressuring the quarterback – late in the game. It seemed Longo could have been even more dominant, but his coaches held him back a lot in order to keep him in the defensive scheme Cardinal Gibbons runs. Longo is a product of a high school which stresses coaching. Cardinal Gibbons' staff is loaded with former professional and college players. Longo knows how to play. He will be a muscular defensive end who will be able to deal with the running game thrown at him in the SEC. I expect him to add mass his redshirt season in order to grow more.

Right now he reminds me of Jeremy Lomax. They are not exactly the same – Longo is further along physically can Lomax – but both are tall defensive ends who are raw right now. Lomax has a lot of upside. I expect his body to mature plenty by the time he takes meaningful snaps in Athens. I think it's too far a reach to call Longo a project – that's not giving him enough credit. At the same time I don't think his body is quite ready to make the jump into college football.
