Dawgs, Tech, Gators and Tigers on 2011's Rome

Jay Rome is a very gifted athlete and is getting a lot of attention from some big name schools in both football and basketball.

Jay Rome has the body and build to compete at the college level immediately but he's going to have to wait because he's in the class of 2011.

Rome has been working out with football but has also been playing a great deal of basketball.

"I usually go to basketball practice in the mornings and then head to football from there. If we have passing leagues then I will miss basketball practice and if we have a tournament I will miss football."

At present Rome is in Orlando competing in the 15, 16, & 17 under AAU super showcase.

"My basketball coach has heard from Clemson, Georgia Tech, Georgia and Florida recently. Florida wanted me to come to their elite camp. They thought I was older than I really am."

Basketball has taken up a lot of his time but football is sharing equal footing in Free's life at present.

"We have had some passing leagues and done very well. I play tight end but am almost always lined up out wide with the sets we are running."

Rome will be part of the 2011 signing class but who knows if it will be football or basketball he will be signing to play.

One thing is for sure Rome already has the size and body he needs for either sport.

"We had physicals just the other day and my height is now 6'6 and my weight was 228 lbs."

Rome will have to put basketball to the side in a few weeks as football is fast approaching at Valdosta and Dawgpost will be in close contact with the excellent recruit as the kickoff to the season nears.
