S. Carolina Week: Hale's Three Keys

COLUMBIA - David Hale's Three Keys to Georgia's game with South Carolina.

Pound the rock. A year ago, Knowshon Moreno got just 14 carries in a 16-12 loss to the Gamecocks. This year, head coach Mark Richt promises plenty more. South Carolina presents by far the toughest defensive test so far this season for Moreno, but if the sophomore can wear down the Gamecocks' defensive front early, Georgia could be in for a big second half.

Get some picks. Georgia's secondary has yet to intercept a pass, and the team's turnover ratio is even. South Carolina has serious quarterback concerns and has thrown six interceptions in two games. A week ago, the Gamecocks outgunned Vanderbilt in almost every category, but Chris Smelley's two interceptions proved the difference in their 24-17 loss.

Win on special teams. This is South Carolina's big advantage over the No. 2-ranked Bulldogs. The Gamecocks have a top-notch kicker, strong punter and speedy return game. Georgia will have to improve on its special-teams performances during the first two weeks, particularly considering this rivalry often produces close games.
