Vanderbilt Week: Monday Practice Report

ATHENS - Georgia practiced for about an hour on Monday evening as the team began preparations for its upcoming Homecoming showdown with No. 22 Vanderbilt.

The Bulldogs are 5-1 overall after downing Tennessee 26-14 in Sanford Stadium on Saturday. Georgia is also 2-1 in the Southeastern Conference. The Commodores are 5-1 overall, 3-1 in the SEC and are coming off a 17-14 loss to Mississippi State.

³The guys were in pretty good spirits today,² Richt said. ³They are already looking forward to this weekend¹s game and excited about the opportunity to improve their record to 6-1.²

Richt also mentioned that the captains for the Vanderbilt game have not yet been decided.

³The staff gave me at least five good nominations for captains on both sides of the ball so I need some more time to think about it,² said Richt. ³But that¹s a good sign when there are that many candidates.²

Also Monday, sophomore Clint Boling was named the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week. Boling helped pave the way for 458 yards of total offense during Georgia's win over Tennessee. After starting the game at right guard, Boling was forced to move over to left tackle after junior starter Vince Vance went down with a season-ending knee injury. Georgia's offensive line allowed no sacks of Matthew Stafford and gave the junior quarterback time to complete career highs in both pass completions (25) and yards (310).
