Florida Week: Tuesday Practice Report

ATHENS - The sun set and temperatures dipped dramatically as Georgia wrapped up their two-and-a-half hour workout in full pads on Tuesday evening.

The Bulldogs' session started under brisk conditions in the mid-50s; however, the wind chill was the high-30s by its conclusion.

"It was definitely the coldest day of the 2008 season," head coach Mark Richt said. "I thought the spirit was good. The guys had very good focus today."

Richt announced captains for Saturday's match-up with No. 5 Florida (6-1, 4-1 SEC) would be defensive tackle Corvey Irvin, wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi, quarterback Matthew Stafford and safety/special teams standout Drew Williams.

Earlier on Tuesday, Richt started his traditional Tuesday press conference with an abnormal opening statement.

³This is a press conference where you probably don¹t have to give out statistics of the team you are playing or talk about...the defensive players and the special teams players you are about to go up against," Richt stated. "A lot of times I feel like I am helping educate not so much everyone sitting here, but I know it gets out on the internet, and you want to educate your fans. I feel like sometimes I¹m helping out in that way. This game in particular I don¹t know if we need to introduce some of the names that are household names at this point. We know we are probably playing the hottest team in the country and probably the fastest team in America. Certainly they are one of the best coached teams in America."
