Georgia plays host to one of three brackets of the Dick's Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off this Monday and Tuesday. The Bulldogs will face West Coast Conference foe Santa Clara on Monday and SWAC member Mississippi Valley State the next night. Both Georgia games are slated to tip off at 8:00 p.m.
The other two consolation brackets of this tournament are being played this week at Davidson, N.C., and Jamaica, N.Y. (St. John's).
The Bulldogs played their first two games in the Tip-Off at West Lafayette, Ind., where they lost a first-round matchup to Loyola-Chicago last Monday and defeated Eastern Michigan the next afternoon. Santa Clara dropped two games in Tucson, Ariz., on the same days, first to UAB and then to Florida Atlantic.
Georgia arrives at tonight's game with a 3-1 overall record. Most recently, the Bulldogs edged Presbyterian in a 55-47 contest last Friday night in Athens.
Dogs Continue to Fight Injury Bug
Junior center Albert Jackson continues to be bothered by a sprained left ankle he suffered in Georgia's exhibition win over Albany State. He missed the Bulldogs' game Friday against Presbyterian.
Meanwhile, freshman Trey Thompkins, who has missed all four games and most of pre-season practice with a high ankle sprain, could be available for limited duty in tonight's game.
