Georgia Tech Week: Wednesday Practice Report

ATHENS - Georgia held a 90-minute workout at the Woodruff Practice Fields Wednesday, as they get ready for this Saturday's game versus 18th-ranked Georgia Tech.

The Bulldogs (9-2) had an open date last week while the Yellow Jackets (8-3) returned to the top 25 national rankings after whipping then 23rd-ranked Miami, Fla., 41-23 last Thursday. Georgia coach Mark Richt said he expects Saturday's game to be another tight one with Tech and that the Jackets win over the Hurricanes doesn't signal any better chance at a victory in the series for them.

"For the most part, the games have been close," said Richt. "I don't think this year is going to be any different. I think they have looked at each of the games we've played against them and thought they could win them."

Richt said the scout team has been working hard this week to help the Bulldogs prepare to face the Yellow Jackets.

"It's not fair to say they can simulate their offense, but they did a heck of a job," said Richt. "I'm sure there will be some wrinkles, and we'll see how we can adjust to the speed of their attack. That will be one of the keys."

When asked what is "the key" to the game, Richt said it would be turnovers.

"Turnover ratio, that's probably the number one factor in dealing with who wins and loses," said Richt. "You can say that about every game."

Redshirt freshman offensive tackle Justin Anderson, who went down with a foot injury against Kentucky Nov. 8, continued to work out this week and should return this Saturday. Richt indicated that sophomore Josh Davis likely will start for the second straight game but Anderson would see action as well. Also, senior tight end Tripp Chandler plans to dress out and will be available to play as well. Chandler went down with a knee injury in the win over Auburn on Nov. 15.
