Reid's Ready to visit Athens

The University of Georgia hopes that having Greg Reid on their campus the weekend before siging day pays off in a big way. This is the final visit for Reid, so does this help the Dawgs?

"I am just going to try to stay focused this weekend and really look at everything," Reid said as he heads north towards Athens.

"I know what I am looking for, I know what I need to see, and I just want to stay focused."

It is really pretty simple according to Reid. He is not looking for too much in Athens this weekend.

"I know Georgia is going to try real hard to get me while I am up there, but I am just trying to see if I am comfortable there. I know I will see the same type of things that I saw on my other visits, but I want to see what kind of feeling I have while I am at Georgia. I want to have some fun too and hang out with the players and coaches, but it is all about how I feel during the visit."

After meeting with three Bulldog coaches, the 5-foot-9, 175 pound playmaker out of Valdosta (GA) Lowndes feels pretty good about the home state school.

"Coach Richt, Coach Bobo, and Coach Martinez came down on Thursday and everything went good. They came to my school first and then over to my house. We talked about a lot of things during the visit; we talked about playing time, the current situation at Georgia, what type of man Coach Richt is, and things like that. It was a good visit."

Reid liked what he hard from the Dawgs.

"Coach Martinez told me again that he really needs me and wants me up there," said the UnderArmour Team Black MVP. "He talked about his corners not getting the picks (interceptions) last year and how he knows I will get those for him. He said he thinks me and Branden Smith would look real good together. I like what he had to say."

"Coach Bobo is a cool guy too. He recruits my area and he is fun to talk trash with. It is easy to talk with him and Coach Richt. I really like the man that Coach Richt is and he is a very straight shooter. He is a real cool guy and I will get to talk more with him this weekend."

Now, Reid goes from spending hours with UGA coaches on Thursday to spending parts of three days in Athens. Does all this time connected to Georgia give the Dawgs any kind of advantage just days before signing day?

"I am going to be thinking about Georgia a lot this weekend and just focused on them, so we will see what I think when the visit is over. If I feel most comfortable there, then that is who I will sign with. I just want to see how I feel at the end of the visit."

Greg Reid is visiting Georgia with his mother and current UGA commitment Mike Gilliard. Gilliard and Reid grew up together in Valdosta and are close friends.

Reid is down to Alabama, Florida State, and Georgia. He plans to announce his decision Tuesday night February 3 at Austin's Steakhouse in Valdosta around 7pm.
