Keiwone Malone talks decision
Scout.com learned earlier today of Keiwone Malone, four-star wide receiver from Memphis-Mitchell Road, Tenn., making a commitment to the University of Alabama.
"I committed to Alabama yesterday," said Keiwone Malone. "I am really excited about my decision. I am glad to be Alabama's first commitment."
"I just love the SEC. I always wanted to play in the SEC. Alabama is a great school. I think I can contribute early."
Malone holds several scholarship offers and still expects to take visits.
"I am going to take all of my official visits," he said. "I am visiting Alabama February 21 for the first time. I do have offers from schools like Tennessee, Ole Miss and Georgia."
Malone recorded 76 receptions for 1,438 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2008. He led the state in every receiving category. He also led the state as a sophomore with 62 receptions for 1,249 yards and 12 touchdowns.
"I would really like to improve my strength," he stated. "I am great at catching the ball and running routes."
He held scholarship offers from Auburn, Duke, Oregon, North Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia.
