Officials: Georgia Has Not Contacted Grant

ATHENS - University of Georgia and Virginia Commonwealth officials are both denying that Georgia has spoken to Anthony Grant.

VCU Director of Athletic Communications Chris Kowalczyk told Dawg Post Grant had not been contacted by Georgia.

"No one from Georgia has contacted us," he said.

When asked specifically if Georgia has officially contacted VCU regarding Anthony Grant as it relates to the vacant head basketball position at Georgia Kowalczyk said "no."

Georgia Sports Information Director Claude Felton also said that Georgia has not been in contact with VCU or Grant about the coaching vacancy.

"I can say with complete authority that neither Damon Evans nor Dr. Adams has ever had a conversation with Anthony Grant as of today, Monday, March 23," Felton said in an e-mail today reprimanding a reporter from a website who wrote that Adams offered the job to Grant "Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Hilton Hotel in the Atlanta Airport."

Felton said the following about the article written: "In my time here at UGA, I don't know that I have seen more erroneous reporting."
