2009 Spring: Day 5 Practice Report

ATHENS - Georgia resumed spring football practice on Tuesday, working out in full pads for about 90 minutes on the Woodruff Practice Fields.

"Today was kind of lukewarm," Georgia coach Mark Richt said. "It wasn't bad, but it was not at the championship level. The energy level was not quite what we've seen, but we've got the rest of the week to get back on track in that regard. The guys have got to fight through. They've got to practice at a level that will make us a great team."

Richt was asked for his impression of the linebackers this spring.

"Thankfully we've got a good amount of depth there right now," he said. "They are getting to the point where they all really know what they're doing."

Richt also addressed Bryan Evans' conversion to safety.

"He's very excited about safety," Richt said. "He's shown as much spirit as anyone. He's high tempo, high energy. He's doing a good job and he's found a nice home."

Richt said two of Evans' fellow defensive backs, Prince Miller and Reshad Jones, had interceptions on Tuesday. Defensive lineman Geno Atkins also picked off a pass and ran it back for a touchdown. Said Richt with a laugh, "It was only five or six yards, but he took it to the house."
