Dawgs in the Dome?

ATHENS – Georgia may open the 2010 season at the Georgia Dome.

That's a pretty big "may", but according to at report in the News Observer Georgia could match up with either North Carolina or North Carolina State. LSU and Ole Miss are also listed as possibilities to open the season at the Georgia Dome next September.

Georgia is still waiting to ink a deal for the final game of the 2010 season. The Bulldogs just signed a contract to open the season with Louisiana-Lafayette a few days ago, but there is a provision in the contract which allows Georgia the ability to shift that game to later in the season.

The Bulldogs do not currently have an opponent on September 18, 2010 or November 6, 2010. Georgia has five home games set at the moment for the 2010 season (Louisiana-Lafayette, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Arkansas and Georgia Tech). Georgia plays away from Athens six times (at South Carolina, at Mississippi State, at Colorado, vs. Florida in Jacksonville, at Auburn and at Kentucky).

If Georgia agrees to play a neutral game at the Georgia Dome in 2010 it would be the first time since 1985 that the Bulldogs played two neutral regular season games in the same season (Ole Miss in Jackson, MS and Florida in Jacksonville, FL).
