Sunshine Duo in Athens

ATHENS – Georgia's Dawg Night will attract some of the top talent in the South – count a couple of Floridians who wants to see Georgia before that.

Chaz Green and Christian Green – two of the top players in the Sunshine State – will be visiting Georgia this weekend but their trip might end before Dawg Night begins. The duo told that they will visit Georgia Thursday, but will likely leave Saturday. Still, the trip is a big one for both.

"This will be my first time up to Georgia, and I am riding up there with Christian, his mom, dad, and brother," said Chaz Green, who plays offensive tackle for Tampa Catholic.

"I don't have a real relationship with Georgia, but I have been trying to reach their coaches to build some type of relationship with them before this visit. I have heard a lot of good things about Georgia, so I want to get up there and see what it is like. I have heard Athens is a beautiful town, I have heard about their coaches, and I just want to see Georgia," Chaz continued.

Christian Green, on the other hand, has visited Athens several times. The Tampa Catholic wide receiver said he's eager to talk with those in the program to see just what Georgia is about.

"I went up to Georgia one time before when I was a sophomore to just check out the campus, but I did not get to talk with the coaches or players then, so I am looking forward to doing that this time," he said. "I will be going up there with my mom, dad, brother (Brandon Green – headed to Hargrave this fall), and Chaz."

Both Greens are considered four-star prospects by, and both are considering Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami and a slew of other schools.

"Florida and USC are my top two and then I would say Georgia, Ohio State, and Tennessee are my next three," Chaz said. "Right now, Florida and Florida State would be my top two and then Georgia. This visit could change things, so that is why I going up there. We will see how it goes," said Christian.

The connection to Athens is likely more of a straight line for Christian.

"My cousin E.G. Green played at FSU when Coach Lilly and Coach Richt were there, so it is nice to know what kind of people they are. I know their style, I know about them as people, and that is part of the reason I am interested in Georgia. I also like the system they run, the players they produce, and how they play," the wide receiver said. "I just want to get up there to see how I would fit it if I decided to go there. I want to see if my personality fits in there with the coaches and the players, I want to see if I am the kind of player that would do well there, and just get a feel for the whole environment at Georgia. I know it is a good school, so I just want to see if it is a school that I could fit in at."

Finding the right place and the right time to commit has been something both have been thinking about.

"I was going to decide before the season, but I have decided to wait until the season to see how things go," Chaz Green said.

"Like Chaz, I am going to wait and commit during the season now. I just want to see how teams play and things like that before making my decision," Christian said. The wide receiver said he will also visit the in-state Gators, and perhaps check out the Seminoles, too.

"I am going to be at Friday Night Lights at Florida on July 24 and I may get down to Showtime late on Saturday, but it depends on when I leave Georgia," Christian said. South Recruiting Analyst Chad Simmons contributed to this report.
