August 24, 2009: Georgia Practice Report

ATHENS - Georgia returned to the practice fields Monday for a two-hour workout in full pads.

Bulldog coach Mark Richt said he likes the progress the team has made in camp. The schedule for the rest of the week includes a Tuesday practice followed by a practice game Wednesday. The team will have Thursday off and will work out Friday and Saturday.

"We've got a challenging schedule this year," said Richt. "We open up with a top 10 team on the road, it's their highest preseason ranking in school history, they got a new stadium, a great senior class, they feel good about their team. I like where we're at too, we'll get after it."

The Bulldogs open the season Sept. 5 against ninth-ranked Oklahoma State in Stillwater.

Richt provided an update on the Bulldog freshmen wide receivers and tight ends and reiterated that they will see action this season.

"They have to help us," said Richt. "We expect them to play, Marlon (Brown) and Rantavious (Wooten) along with Orson (Charles) and Arthur (Lynch), they will get playing time. They started out good, then hit a wall and now are picking it up again and making progress. That's typical of freshmen in their first camp."
