Oklahoma State Week: Monday Practice Report

ATHENS - Georgia practiced for just under two hours on Monday afternoon to start the team's final week before Saturday's season opener versus 11th-ranked Oklahoma State

Georgia is not accustomed to starting the season on the road under head coach Mark Richt. Only once since 2001 have the Bulldogs played their first game of the season away from Athens as they shutout Clemson 30-0 in 2003. Georgia last traveled to Stillwater in 1947 and beat Oklahoma A&M 20-7.

"We had a good day today and you could see the guys are sensing it's here," Richt said. "This was the last day of tackling drills and there was more excitement and animation out there than there has been."

Richt noted that both sophomore center Ben Jones and junior left guard Chris Davis practiced on Monday and are expected to play after suffering recent injuries. He added that redshirt sophomore tailback Caleb King did not practice, but is "not out of it for this game yet."

In addition, Richt said that he expects redshirt sophomore quarterback Logan Gray to play in certain situations versus the Cowboys on Saturday.
