Blazing corner is ready to see Athens

One of the fastest football prospects in the state of Florida will be visiting the University of Georgia officially this weekend. It will be his first trip to Athens and he is ready to see what the Bulldogs have to offer.

"This visit to Georgia will be my first official visit and I am wanting to see what it is like there," said Terrence Mitchell. "I have not been there before, so it will be my first time there and I have heard it is nice up there. I know it is going to be a good game against LSU too."

Mitchell is one of the top defensive backs in the Sunshine State and he has been in close contact with the UGA coaching staff. He likes what they have had to say.

"I have talked to them more than any other school lately. I talk the most to Coach [Bryan] McClendon and he is a cool. He has told me about Georgia, how they need me there, how they would like to have me, and other stuff. I have also talked some to Coach [Willie] Martinez and I like him too. He coaches my position, so it was cool to talk with him."

He is closest to his recruiting coach and Mitchell likes how he relates to the young receivers coach in Athens.

"Coach Mac has been through this before, he had to make this big decision, and I just relate to him well," stated the Tampa (FL) Hillsborough athlete. "A lot of what he tells me is what I am feeling right now about the process and he knows how to answer all my questions. It is like he knows what I am thinking so it is cool."

This visit to Athens will be Georgia's shot to impress Mitchell. The number 12 rated corner in the country wants to see what it would be like to play between the hedges.

"I want to see what the atmosphere is like there, I want to see if I feel comfortable there, and I want to see how I would fit in there. I know I like the coaches, but that is about all I know right now about Georgia. They are playing a top team, so it should be a lot of fun. I have heard about Georgia, so I want to see what it is like."

It appears Georgia is currently high on Mitchell's list with an in-state school. The program out of Tallahassee that plays in the ACC is a school that Mitchell has a lot of interest in.

"Florida State and Georgia are definitely the two schools recruiting me the most right now," he said. "I talk to Georgia at least once a week and I talk to FSU almost that much too."

"I talk to Coach [Lawrence] Dawsey from FSU and he is a cool coach. He was a great player FSU and I like that because I know he knows what he is talking about. He says a lot of the same things to me that the Georgia coaches do and I know I will be visiting them."

The Seminoles and Bulldogs know they will get official visits from Mitchell, but the other three are up for grabs. All five official visits will be taken though, so does the fact that he knows that FSU and UGA will get visits give them the lead?

"I wouldn't say they are my top two, but they are both way up there for me," he answered. "I like both of them a lot, but I am also looking at Tennessee, Florida, North Carolina, and South Florida. Those are the schools I talk to the most after Georgia and Florida State."

He knows he will visit FSU after the season and he said USF would likely get his third official visit. After that it is wide open.

He is in no rush to make a decision, but once his five official visits are behind him, expect a commitment from Mitchell shortly thereafter.

"I think I will commit about two days after my last visit. I will know where I want to go after I see all the schools. I am open to any school right now in or out of Florida. I just want to see who has the atmosphere I would like to play in and how comfortable I feel at each place."
