Bailey can't wait to play for Dawgs

The Bulldogs beat out Clemson and Tennessee Tech for Bailey's kicking services.

Why did Andy Bailey pick the Georgia Bulldogs? "Georgia is a rising program and they are a SEC school, which is where I wanted to go," said Bailey.

The Bulldogs beat out Clemson and Tennessee Tech for his kicking services. "Clemson called me right after I committed to Georgia and offered me a full scholarship," said Bailey of the recruiting rivalry between the Tigers and Dawgs.

Coach Johnson, the tight ends coach for Georgia, recruited Bailey for Georgia. Bailey said that last Monday, Johnson visited and he brought a visitor. Mark Richt.
Richt's visit was mainly a "get to know you" for Bailey's parents and the head coach. "We talked about family and what my parents do for a living," said Bailey of the visit. "Coach Johnson let Coach Richt do all of the talking. But (Coach Johnson) let me know what is expected of me as far as my commitment Georgia is concerned," Bailey said.

How did Bailey and Georgia get connected?

"Georgia was the 1st big school that offered me," said Bailey. "When Coach Fabris watched all of my game film one Friday, then left school and called me right back and offered me a full scholarship; I took it," said Bailey.

Bailey's visit to Athens was a good one. "Everyone was real friendly at Georgia. Everyone was coming up to me saying ‘welcome to Georgia,'" he said.

Bailey said that his trip to Sanford Stadium was exciting. "My heart got pumping a little bit. It made me want to play right then," he said. Bailey will have to wait just a little bit longer for that.
