Beason visits the Canes

Chaminade Madonna standout strong safety John Beason took his final visit this weekend

At 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds, Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade Madonna standout strong safety John Beason took his final visit this weekend -- to Miami. He said he was very impressed with his visit to UM this weekend. "It was real tight," he said. "I got to hang out with all the boys. They're all talking about me coming to UM and making a name for myself. They just told me what's up. I know that if you're able to start ballin at Miami then the NFL will know all about you."

Beason said not meeting with Larry Coker wasn't a problem. "He came by the house recently so he answered all my questions and it gave me a chance to meet with him face-to-face," he said. "I was able to talk to the rest of the coaches."

Beason said he's headed straight to his head coach's house to talk about a decision. "It's out of UM, FSU, UT, and Georgia," he said. "We're going to go over all the pros and cons of each one. We're going to put it all on paper and come up with a final decision. Now that I've seen all four up close I know a lot more than I did before. I won't announce it until Wednesday though."

So what are the pros and cons for UM, according to Beason? "The pros go on and on," he said. "They're a top level program that I'm comfortable with. Great players, great coaches, everything. There aren't really any negatives that I can see."
