Georgia on Fanning's Mind

ATHENS – A border war for LaMichael Fanning, who is one of the most talented 2011 prospects in the South, is brewing.

The lengthy prospect has both Auburn and Georgia high on his list, and he was there Saturday night to see the old rivals tee it up Between the Hedges. Fanning did not come away disappointed with his trip… a trip he'd been looking forward to for some time.

"I had been planning to go to the game," Fanning said of the fight between the Tigers and Dawgs. "I knew I was going to go for the last three weeks."

Auburn and Georgia were back to their usual on the gridiron – a back-and-forth struggle that ended on the final play of the game.

"The atmosphere was crazy – it was loud," Fanning said. "They really battled. Georgia is still on my mind. I just had to take everything in while I was there. Auburn showed up and did their thing, but got outplayed."

Georgia's win won't hurt the Dawgs' chances with Fanning, but he's looking into more than just wins and losses.

"I'm looking for a place like home, but where I can have fun" he said. "I don't want to go anywhere plain. I want to go somewhere with atmosphere. I want to go somewhere where I can have playing time."

When comparing the two atmospheres, Fanning said he favored Georgia slightly over Auburn.

"I think Georgia is a little liver than Auburn. I think the crowd is a little louder," he said.

But there is a long way to go before Fanning makes any sort of decision. He said that he will visit Auburn again soon, and that he plans to come back to see Georgia again as well.
