A.J. Bryant is a 6-2+ and 185 pound quarterback from Peach County High School in Fort Valley, GA. He committed to Georgia just before signing day. He clocked at 4.32 at Clemson's camp and 4.36 at Georgia's camp last summer.
It is only natural to hear about that kind of speed and automatically be classified as an athlete that will be moved to another position. Bryant however is a quarterback first and an athlete second.
He has tremendous poise in the pocket. He has a feel for the quarterback position. He worked hard as a junior to be a quarterback that is a good athlete rather than a good athlete that plays quarterback.
"He takes playing quarterback very seriously," said Peach County Head Coach Rance Gillespie. "If he makes a bad read in practice or something, we call him 'athlete' to motivate him, and it really ticks him off, " Gillespie added with a laugh. "He wants to be a quarterback, and he is a very good quarterback."
Bryant does not have a rocket arm, but he has a good overhand release and great touch on the short and intermediate routes. He excels at escaping pressure and finding an open receiver rather than just tucking and running with the ball.
Peach County is coming off of an 8-4 record and returns 17 starters. With Bryant at the helm, Peach County is going to be a lot of fun to watch this year.
