Richt said he was not interested in addressing the matter until it was resolved.
"As far as the search is concerned, I am not taking any pleasure at all in what people might be going through out there," Richt said. "The only comment I can make on that is that when I do have that decision made and it is ready for public consumption we will let everyone know."
Richt fired Willie Martinez at the start of the month and has been searching for his replacement ever since. Several names have popped up as possibilities including Virginia Tech's Bud Foster, Illinois' Vic Koenning, Alabama's Kirby Smart and most recently LSU's John Chavis.
"My goal is to get the right man for the job. The timetable – I never set one on that. I have given a general idea. The bottom line is I am not going to make any comments on that until the job is done," Richt said.
Richt confirmed that Defensive line coach Rodney Garner is not a candidate for the position.
