Maryland makes first move

Terps become first school to offer 2011 prospect. 2011 prospect Jabari Hunt-Days received his first offer today after practice.

Today could not have been a better day for 2011 prospect Jabari Hunt-Days. He earned his first Division I football scholarship today from the University of Maryland.

“I was on my way home from my track meet and received a text saying they wanted to talk to me about some things. I called the Maryland coach (Assistant Coach Bankins) and he said they were verbally offering me, but they are going to send my official offer early next week. I am very excited because this is first major Division I offer.”

Jabari has not visited Maryland yet and does not know much about the program, but after talking to Coach Bankins he has become aware of what Maryland has to offer. He has also been invited to visit Maryland for their annual Spring Game.

Maryland's offer came after recruiting Jabari since his sophomore year. “I haven't really talked to any coaches before today, but I had received letters, emails, and my coach also sent out my film.”

Although Maryland was the first school to offer Jabari, he is going to let the process play out before making a decision. “I am very excited about my offer, but I am just trying to be patient. I am just going to wait out the recruiting process and see what happens.”

He plans on studying pre-dentistry when he gets to college. Besides his academic area of interest, Jabari is looking for a good coaching staff that he can easily talk to, how the team plays on both sides of the ball, and all of the minor details of the program.
