DeBell Takes in Athens

ATHENS – Zach DeBell decided his spring break would be a great time to check out colleges.

So he packed up from his small town home in Florida to visit a slew of schools in Georgia and the Carolinas.

"Right now I am open to everything. The SEC would be cool, but that doesn't matter too much to me," he said.

DeBell visited has already visited Georgia Tech and Georgia, and will visit North and South Carolina as well as Clemson on the road trip. The offensive lineman said he liked what Georgia had to offer.

"It was really good," DeBell said of Athens. "We were only there for a short time. I met Coach Bobo, Coach Sealres and Coach McClendon. They showed me the offensive line highlights and what they look for in a player – guys who are strong, explosive and agile."

DeBell does not yet have an offer from the Bulldogs, and said he's looking to improve on some things in the meantime.

"I still need to work on my technique," he said.

DeBell said he's looking for a college that can improve him. He's also looking for quality coaches to help him on his way.

"I am looking for a place that will take me to the next level," he said. "You also need to have a good relationship with your coaches. I thought the coaches at Georgia were very friendly. It was really cool – they were easy to talk to."

DeBell also took in some of the sights at Georgia.

"The trophy room was amazing… amazing," he said. "I thought it was a huge trophy room. They had four or five bowl rings. The rings were huge – could probably fit around three of my fingers. I saw the locker room, and the locker where I would be."

DeBell said he's interested in coming back to Athens in the future to visit once more with the Bulldogs.

"I would be interested in coming back to Georgia and see how the facilities turn out. I'd like to see the dorms, too," he said.
