Marcus Thornton Commits to Georgia

Westlake forward Marcus Thornton decides to stay in-state, picking the Bulldogs over Alabama.

Marcus Thornton, a one-time Clemson signee, ended his recruitment for good Wednesday, picking Georgia over Alabama.

"In the end I like the opportunity I had at Georgia," Thornton said. "How I could be a big piece of something. I felt in my heart that's what I wanted to do."

The Bulldogs recruited Thornton as a combo forward, since he has the size, 6-foot-7, 200-pounds, and versatility to play inside and out.

Thornton said he'll most likely play the "3" in Athens, and added the ACC rule requiring him to sit out a season if he chose Georgia Tech did not factor in his final decision.

Thornton joins posts Cady Lalanne, Donte Williams, and JUCO shooting guard Sherrard Brantley in the Bulldogs' 2010 class.
