Kentavious Caldwell To The SEC

Mark Fox has his star. Kentavious Caldwell, the Greenville (Ga.) High standout, became Fox's signature recruit and could pave the way for a host of players to make their way to Athens.

The Georgia Bulldogs struck big over the weekend. Kentavious Caldwell, one of the nation's elite wing guards, committed to Mark Fox's program.

Caldwell, ranked No. 13 by Scout.com picked the Bulldogs. He told us last week at the King City Classic that Tennessee, Florida State, Clemson and Alabama were also high on his list.

Caldwell, a rising senior out of Greenville (Ga.) High, is one of the nation's finest scoring guards. He's got range, athleticism and could be a Joe Johnson-James Anderson type of scorer on the college level.

"The reason I did it was because the coach and its close to home," Caldwell said. "It's good academic wise."

Caldwell's a quiet young man, an understated star in the Class of 2011. His game speaks for itself and he's not a guy who needs or seeks the spotlight. He's simply a good player who can help a program and felt the pull to stay close to his family.

"I hope I can help them turn things around."

Fox has his star. Caldwell is his cornerstone recruit in Athens. Caldwell was the first recruit Fox went to see once he became the head coach at Georgia. You know this one meant a lot to the program.
