Dent to Miss Pre-Season (Updated)

ATHENS – Georgia linebacker Akeem Dent will miss pre-season training camp with an toe injury.

A senior from Atlanta, Dent is listed as the Bulldogs' starting inside linebacker. He has 17 career starts with 114 career total tackles for Georgia. Dent missed several games last season while dealing with a hamstring injury.

A spokesman for Georgia said that Dent had outpatient surgery at St. Mary's this morning for a left first toe injury suffered in an off-field accident last week. Dent's recovery time is expected to be four to six weeks.

Sophomore Mike Gilliard is listed as Dent's backup in the pre-season depth chart released by Georgia, but it is unclear if he would move to the starting spot or if another linebacker would move there.
