Profile 2004 - Brandon Lang (DE)

The state of Georgia lacked a true speed rusher coming from the defensive end last season, but Brandon Lang will fit that mold nicely for the class of 2004. At 6-5 and 220 pounds, Lang has tremendous speed. Coach Bill Ballard of Tucker High School said that he has clocked Lang as low as 4.5 in the forty yard dash.

"He can really run," said Coach Ballard. "He had 16 sacks and 19 tackles for loss for us last year. He's still growing and just starting to fill out, but schools are still looking at him to play tight end."

Lang plays right field and pitches for the Tucker baseball team, but his future is on the gridiron.

"We went to the Furman camp as a team last year," said Lang. "I know we're going back to Furman and to the Nike Camp again this year. I don't have any offers yet, but I like Clemson, Georgia, Illinois, Penn State, and Alabama right now. Georgia and Clemson are probably my two favorite teams out of those."

When asked who he looks up to, Lang gave a standard answer for speedy defensive ends: Javon Kearse.

Lang has the frame and the speed to match "The Freak". That's a tall order for any player, but Lang has the tools to get it done on the next level.
