Profile 2004 - Leon Hart (OL)

When Eric Young and Marion Dukes graduate this spring, they will not leave the cupboard bare at offensive line in the state of South Carolina. Leon Hart is a tremendous prospect that is turning heads very early in his career.

"He was invited to the All-American combine before the All-American game in January," said Spring Valley Head Coach Jimmy Noonan. "He placed first in three of the six events they tested in. He won the forty, the vertical, and the broad jump. They didn't name a most valuable lineman, but I think with his performance at the combine, he probably would have gotten it."

At 6-5 and 292 pounds, Hart has the perfect frame to play offensive tackle. He also has the strength and the quickness. "He has a 350 pounds bench press and a 500 pound squat right now, but his best lift is the power clean. He's cleaning right at 350 right now, so he's got the leverage and the feet," added Noonan.

Best of all, Hart is a 3.6 GPA student that is taking a hard look at both football and academics.

"I'd like to major in engineering," said Hart. "I'm looking at either computer engineering or electrical engineering right now. I kind of like the two instate school the best right now: South Carolina and Clemson. I also like Georgia, Maryland, and Tennessee. I'll go where I feel most comfortable with the academics and the program."

Noonan said that Hart has gotten offers from everyone that has seen his film so far. That list includes South Carolina, Maryland, Clemson, and Vanderbilt. "Georgia, Virginia, Oregon, Colorado, and Notre Dame are all teams that have requested film recently too," said Noonan. "I expect they will offer him as well."

Hart is an excellent football prospect as well as an excellent student. He has a bright future and loads of options ahead of him.
