Gonzaga officially turned up the heat on its 2018 recruiting, as it sent out the first official offers to the class. Not surprisingly, it was David Singleton, who the staff followed throughout the summer that received an early offer from the Zags.
Singleton was very impressive throughout the AAU season, and its conclusion coincided with an offer from Gonzaga.
“I got offered by Coach Few right after the Fab 48 tournament,” the elite guard said. “Then I called Coach Daniels just to confirm the offer with him. He talked with Coach Few and let me know yesterday that I had the offer.”
As a guy that is so focused on improving his game, it should come as no surprise that this only serves as motivation for Singleton.
“All the offers are really just a reminder, and motivation, to keep me going and working hard,” he explained. “Every offer is not the same, and each offer that I get, it makes me feel like I’m getting better.”
After mentioning Oregon as a favorite in an interview last week, the Bishop Montgomery star did admit this offer changed his recruitment up a bit.
“I would say it’s co-favorites now,” admitted Singleton. “They are both great schools that are now offering a free education. So they are tied for me now.”
With his recruiting picking up, the Scout 100 player will see a couple schools next weekend. However, it might be awhile before he sees either of his favorites.
“Yes, I am visiting them (Arizona and Arizona St.) next weekend. I’m waiting until my junior year to take my official visits. I only get five of them, and I still have two years of high school left, so I want to take my time with them.”
