Pictorial: Gonzaga 80 - Portland 65

Behind guards Pooh Jeter, Donald Wilson, Casey Frandsen and Adam Quick, Portland shot well early but the Zags still maintained leads and eventually pulled away at the end with Blake Stepp, Ronny Turiaf and Cory Violette leading the way to a 15-2 record and 5-0 in WCC.

Cory Violette was in a crowd all night in Chiles Center, but despite an off-night the big man had 17 points with 8 boards.

Portland contested many shots but Ronny Turiaf hit a high percentage down low and was a big factor late in the game.

Pilot guards like Casey Frandsen were hot shooters early but defense by Blake Stepp and other Zags cooled them off as the game wore on.

Pilot Dustin Geddis can't elevate high enough to affect this shot by Ronny.
