Bouncy and athletic with good, natural basketball skills, Dominique Harris catches on fast. She is a strong combo guard who is better at off-guard than point guard, but this day she played the point and displayed a decent shot out to the three-point line and very nice passing, defense and court vision.
What was most impressive was how Harris just stepped onto The Kennel court and looked like she had been playing for months at Gonzaga. She consistently spotted the open team mate for an assist, and displayed solid strength with some power moves to the basket. For an incoming freshman, she impressed.
Dominique showed all the signs of combining strong and steady guard play in Kelly Graves' backcourt with some one-on-one street ball qualities that allow her to create her own shot and make something good happen out of nothing.
With point guard Shannon Mathews graduating in 2005, Dominique would be an ideal addition, to join Rachel Kane, Katie Prichard and Katy Ridenour in the backcourt.
Katie Prichard and Katy Ridenour would team in the backcourt with Dominique.
Former Zag Triana Allen knows Dominique well and the two play hoops together in Southern California. Harris averaged over 17 points as a senior but fell below the radar when she was injured and missed substantial time.
Dominique currently plans to visit up to two more schools, including Temple.
