Jami Bjorklund visits Gonzaga

Gonzaga was abuzz with hundreds of young female hoopsters attending Kelly Graves' skills camp, but the real excitement was on campus unofficially on short notice: Gonzaga high priority recruit Jami Bjorklund and parents.

Greeted by nearly two hundred young girls layed out on the ground to spell "J-A-M-I" and chanting "We want Jami!, We want Jami!," University (Spokane) High School star and top Gonzaga recruit Jami Bjorklund and her parents arrived for a whirlwind visit of Gonzaga University by Kelly Graves and the women's basketball staff.

With a new state-of-the-art arena nearly completed and the need to replace graduating off-guards and small forwards, there was plenty to tour and to talk about.

This was a brief respite for the versatile 5'11" guard/forward. Her AAU team, the Spokane Stars, has conquered all comers from across the country in tournaments in Seattle, Oregon City and Spokane so far. She will once again help lead her team as the biggest event of the summer looms in Phoenix where just about every D1 coach in the country will be watching.

That will conclude Bjorklund's AAU summer tour and mark the beginning of scheduling visits and ultimately deciding what university to commit to. The process got off to a positive start with her unofficial visit to GU.

ZagsHoops wishes Jami all the best in her recruiting process. The Women's Message Board will continue to follow Jami and her team.
