Larry Gurganious, a 6'5", 195 lbs senior at St. Mary's College High School in Berkeley, CA, has made an oral commitment to play basketball for Gonzaga in 2005.
Gurganious, who averaged 20+ points and 8 boards on a team that utilized him as a point guard, shooting guard and small forward visited Spokane over the weekend of August 28 and committed to Mark Few and the Bulldogs while on campus with his parents.
"What impressed me the most was how comfortable I felt in the city and how the players on the team treated me," Gurganious told the Spokesman Review. The versatile and extremely athletic first-team All-Bay Shore Athletic League selection continued: "They treated me like I was already going there."
Gurganious said he was also impressed by the Bulldogs' new 6000+ seat McCarthey Athletic Center.
Mark Olivier, Gurganious AAU coach, said the Zags have landed a real gem.
Larry Gurganious has made a name for himself as an athletic slasher who invigorates crowds and teammates with an array of jaw-dropping dunks. He has been described as "elite" with major upside potential. He can handle the ball well, get to the basket and he can flat-out score. Oh, his defense isn't too bad either.
Zag fans look forward to when Larry bring his exciting game to Gonzaga, and welcome him and his family to the Zag Community.
