A member of the Canadian U-19 National team, Janelle Bekkering quickly went from an unknown basketball player Alberta, Canada, to a dynamic wing with incredible athleticism and skills...and highly sought-after

Coaches across America were suddenly very aware of the 5'11" standout.

Janelle visited Gonzaga unofficially and officially, and it was a comfortable and natural fit. Coach Kelly Graves has a program on the rise and Bekkering recognized it. With elite players like her, Gonzaga's women will just be that much better and that much closer to the status that Graves is aiming for.

Janelle will bring athleticism rarely, if ever, seen on the Spokane, Washington, campus. She possesses an amazing vertical and promises to provide plenty of highlight reel performances while at Gonzaga.

Bekkering joins Heather Bowman, Vivian Frieson, Tatriana Lorenzo and Simone Jordan for what is the Zags' most promising recruiting class in school history.

GU Nation would like to welcome Janelle and her family to the Gonzaga community.
