Zagirl: First off, congrats on the GSL scoring record. How does it feel to surpass Jeff Brown and Sean Mallon, two Gonzaga basketball players?

AM: Thanks! It feels pretty good. It's nice to say that you own it. The other two Zags are both great players, so I'll have to prove myself in college again.

Zagirl: What do you see as your biggest challenge as you look forward to transitioning to the college game?

AM: Probably defense; on ball defense because you have to be able to stop your man.

Zagirl: Your height and your shot give you the ability to play several positions, what do you see yourself playing at Gonzaga?

AM: Probably a three or a two. If I grow some more maybe I'll play a four.

Zagirl: By the way, exactly how tall are you?

AM: 6'7".

Zagirl: Are you still growing?

AM: Yes.

Zagirl: People say your shooting form reminds them of Larry Bird's, do you try to model your game after his?

AM: Big time. I have old games that I watch. I try to do what he does. He was slow and I am slow. I just try to do what he does.

Zagirl: Speaking of shooting, do you have a work-out routine that you've done that's helped you develop your shot?

AM: Not really, I just shoot.

Zagirl: In your nightmares, which Gonzaga player do you have to guard and why would this be a real nightmare?

AM: Erroll Knight. He's the best athlete and basketball player I've seen in person.

Zagirl: What attracted you to Gonzaga?

AM: Just the whole program in general. Good guys, the coaches are good, and it's in town. If you look at the banners, they have four straight NCAA appearances. Coach Few is a nice guy. It's just a good program.

Zagirl: Do you know what you would like to major in?

AM: No.

Zagirl: Would you rather dunk, block a shot, hit a three, or make a behind-the-back assist?

AM: Hit a three.

Zagirl: Right now your team, the Mead Panthers, is undefeated and ranked first in the state. Undoubtedly, your current goal is to win the state title. What are your basketball goals at Gonzaga and beyond?

AM: To go deep in the tournament every year. We've got Pendo and we've got Raivio, if we can get Farmar and somebody else we've got a chance to go to the Final Four. We should be able to go deep in the tournament every year no matter what. After that, I don't know, probably go play overseas.

Zagirl: Do you participate in any other sports at Mead?

AM: No.

Zagirl: Who is your favorite NBA player currently playing and what is it you like about him?

AM: Dirk Nowitzki, because he plays my style and he's tall.

Zagirl: What are you planning to work on this summer to better prepare you for the college game?

AM: Ball handling, quickness, shooting. Everything; I need to work on everything, just like everybody else does.

Zagirl: Playing with your diabetes, have you ever thought of yourself as being an inspiration to kids who also have diabetes, because I'm sure you are?

AM: Sometimes, but not really.

Zagirl: When you're not playing basketball or studying, what do you like to do? Do you have any hobbies?

AM: Listening to music and hanging out with friends.
