Lakers Land Athletic End

Grand Valley State landed a commit whose coach says is a big time player many schools missed on. Learn about this local product on his way to Allendale.

Muskegon Orchard View defensive end Lamontae Jackson is one of the recent Grand Valley State commitments.

A 6'3, 225-lb athlete who can provide pressure off the edge, Jackson's coach Matt Bolles says the Lakers are getting a big time player.

"I just wanted to let you know that Lamontae Jackson committed to GVSU," Bolles said. "I promise you this: many D1 schools just missed on a "sleeper." He is going to be special if he stays injury free and develops at the pace he has been! I would bet the farm on that."

Bolles says many schools showed late interest, including Indiana, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois and others.

He says Jackson was also shorted on post-season recognition, considering the season he put together.

"He was "robbed" of All State! He had 134 tackles, ten sacks, 18 tackles for loss and three blocked kicks."

Bolles reports that Jackson has been timed in the forty as fast as 4.6 seconds.
