GV Camp Report: Day One

A number of the state's best were out for day one of Grand Valley State's technique camp. GVReport was on hand making observations and taking notes on possible future Lakers.

There were about 200 kids who ventured to Allendale for Day One of Grand Valley's summer technique camp, some were only afternoon or one day campers. We got to watch the first groups run their forties, technique drills and 1-1s between the wide receivers and cornerbacks. Here are some observations:

Ann Arbor Huron WR Daryl Gooden and Holland Christian's Elias Kos both performed well in drills and 1-1s.

The biggest name out today was Grosse Ile OL/DL Lonnie Pugh. The 6'5, 250-lb Pugh has already received a Central Michigan offer, but is close to the Grand Valley program. Most schools are recruiting him as a defensive end, the Lakers may also give him a look at offensive tackle.

We saw Hudsonville QB Brian Greisen a few weeks ago and really liked the way he threw the ball. Although the wind affected his consistency today, he was right up there with the best quarterbacks. Other quarterbacks who looked good were West Catholic's Kirk Deering and Troy's Bronco Hamilton.

Deering's teammate OLB/DE Tony Iacovoni is a solid 6'2, 210 lbs and did well today. He has a good first step and straight line speed and he could grown into a great pass rushing defensive end, even though he is primarily a linebacker in high school.

Derek Beemer - CB - Rockford
Gavin Scarr - LB/DE - Pewamo-Westphalia
Kwame Cawarrie - TE/LB - Annapolis
Vaudry Adare - junior WR/CB - Grand Rapids Union
Jamarcus Martin - CB - Mona Shores
