GVSU-Findlay: Post-Game Notes

Grand Valley improved to 2-0 with a 38-15 win over Findlay tonight. GVReport was on hand to check the game out and we caught up with some of the recruits attending the game.

- Tonight's crowd was the 9th largest ever at Lubbers Stadium, a total of 11,710 fans were in attendance!

- Early in the game, Findlay had success moving the ball, particularly on the ground with RB Joel McDaniel. McDaniel had 54 yards on the first drive, but only had eight the rest of the game as the Laker D tightened up.

- Full game number two for Mr. Iciek. He showed me some toughness today as he made some plays with his feet. Next week hopefully we'll see him slide or head to the sideline a little more though!

- We told you before about true freshman Jimmy Berezik, well, he is for real and had a bit of a coming out party tonight. The Warren De La Salle product rushed for 135 yards and 2 TDs.

- That early playing time for a true frosh had to look good to the recruits in attendance. There were a couple good instate recruits there tonight.

Muskegon had a slew of kids out. Most notably, all-state OL Carlin Landingham, who camped at Grand Valley this summer and would be a great pickup. He was joined by rugged, tough DE Demarreo Wyrick and ATH Kevin Turner, who could play wide receiver or defensive back at the next level.

Another top rated recruit we caught up with was Ann Arbor Huron WR Daryl Gooden, who made the trek from the east side today. Gooden is receiving a lot of D1 attention, but his father played at GVSU and he had a good camp experience as well this summer, so he is one to keep an eye on.

Video higlights from the game will be posted early next week.
