UND Again! Fighting Sioux Rout Winona State

The stage is set. Next week, North Dakota and Grand Valley will meet again in the DII playoffs. The Fighting Sioux cruised to an opening round victory over Winona State today.

"GRAND FORKS, N.D.--Sophomore running back Ryan Chappell ran for 176 yards and two touchdowns to lead the seventh-ranked Fighting Sioux to a 44-2 win over No. 19 Winona State this afternoon in the opening round of the NCAA postseason."

The two powers have met in five of the last six postseasons. The first came during the 2001-2002 season when UND defeated GVSU 17-14 in the championship game.

The Lakers are 3-2 against the Fighting Sioux in those five contests including two straight victories over the past two seasons.

Last season, GVSU handed UND a 30-20 loss in the semi-final round. The game will take place next Saturday, November 24, with the time to be announced at a later date.
