GVSU Recruiting Local Lineman

Grand Rapids Catholic Central has been one of the state's best programs over the past few seasons. The school has pumped out a number of top recruits and this year is no different as DT/FB Jason Harvey is hearing from several schools, including Grand Valley.

Linebackers and defensive backs in the Grand Rapids City League have to be glad Jason Harvey is a senior. That means they won't have to tackle him anymore. The 6'1, 270-lb Harvey was CC's wrecking ball fullback over the past three seasons.

A fine athlete at his size, Harvey is being recruited as a defensive tackle (he played on the nose in high school) and is hearing from several colleges looking to add a big man in the middle.

"Its going well," he said of his recruitment, "Central Michigan, Grand Valley State and Miami of Ohio have all been looking at me hard and I have been to GVSU and CMU to watch some games."

With the Catholic Central season complete, he is ready to push the recruiting process into high gear.

"I havent been on offical visits yet, but I'm hoping to go down to Miami of Ohio soon to see how I like it . But until then I have to wait until my ACT scores come back so I can send them out."

So while recruiting might be going a little slower than Harvey imagined it would, he is still confident everything will work itself out in the end.

"No offers so far," he reported, "but I'm sure they will come."
