Ricky's Recruiting Story:
I first saw Ricky on film and noticed his quickness, speed and ability to blitz off the edge. I saw him in person for the first time at the University of Michigan summer camp. He showed impressive athleticism again there and looked comfortable in space, dropping into coverage. At that point, Michigan, Western Michigan and other MAC schools were interested, but his size (6'3, 200) was the only concern for a player who played like a strongside linebacker. The MAC schools and especially Western continued to track him throughout his senior season, but no offers. Grand Valley stayed dilligent and they got their guy.

Scouting Report:
Like I noted above, this is a really good athlete. He's fast, aggressive and can be used in a variety of roles. He can cover, blitz, even put his hand down and rush the passer. The concern, as also noted is his size; he will have to dedicate himself to the weight room, but he has the frame to do so.

With our lineup at linebacker and his need for some time hitting the weights, a redshirt is very likely. Early in his career, he should be an awesome special teamer at the very least. But by his sophomore/junior year, I would be surprised if he wasn't seeing the field significantly.
