Another Commit For Grand Valley?

Recruiting is hitting a blistering pace for the Grand Valley State Lakers. The team grabbed two verbal committments earlier in the week and started off the weekend right: with a verbal from one of the state's best.

Does Grand Valley have committment number four? Yes they do, according to Mike Burchyett, the father of Saline WR Sam Burchyett.

"Sam just got off the phone with Coach Martin in Chicago," Mr. Burchyett said, "and has committed to GVSU for 2008."

The 6'2, 180-lb Burchyett becomes the Lakers' fourth verbal committment of the year and was a 1st team All-State selection after grabbing 41 passes for 852 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also had two TDs as a return man.

There were some MAC and 1AA teams interested in him and they may try to still sway him away from Allendale before signing day, but according to one happy father, his son is all Laker.

"He is pumped about helping the team win some more championships! Next stop is the GVSU store to outfit the family with Laker gear!"
