Parker Is a Laker!

The committments have been flying in this past week for the Grand Valley football team. We broke three of the team's committments last week and now we have one more: one of west Michigan's top linemen.

McClain Parker of Muskegon High School is now a part of the Grand Valley State football program. The 6'3, 260-lb Parker committed to the Lakers recently.

"They saw me at a game and liked me," Parker told GVReport, "so they invited me to a testing day and I went up there. Then that Thursday, Coach Martin called and said he wanted me and my dad to come up since my dad didn't come to the testing day. So we went up there and they offered me some money. I went home and talked about it with my dad and I called Coach Martin and committed."

Parker was also being recruited Indianapolis, Hillsdale and Northwood, but he said something about Allendale just felt like home.

"I just really like the atmosphere, it reminds me of Muskegon, its just really laid back there."

Parker is one of three offensive line committments. The Lakers have already reeled in a tackle in Andrew Biedenbender, a guard with Matthew Armstrong and now Parker, a high school guard completes the trifecta.

"They want me to redshirt my first year and they want me to play center," he reported, "I haven't played center since my 9th grade year so I'll have to make that adjustment."

Parker was a three year varsity starter who helped the Big Reds win a state title during his time there. With his school being so talented, Parker says he is now embracing the role of recruiter.

"Carlin Landingham and Chris Crawford are thinking about Grand Valley. They were at the testing day with me. I'm definitely encouraging them coming with me to GV."
