Sanders Pulls the Trigger

Matt Sanders has been under the radar for quite some time. The Farmington safety/wide receiver picked up a lot of interest from 1-AA and D2 schools though and just yesterday, he decided he would head to Allendale to play for the Grand Valley Lakers. Here is his story and video highlights from both his junior and senior seasons.

Farmington free safety/wide receiver Matt Sanders is a Grand Valley State Laker. The 6'4, 200-lb Sanders committed to the Lakers over interest from Robert Morris and Saginaw Valley State.

As a junior, Sanders totaled 74 tackles and four interceptions on defense and had 12 receptions for 162 yards and two touchdowns on offense.

As a senior, he had an even better year, as he tallied 119 tackles, an interception, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and a blocked kick. He also added 19 receptions for 303 yards and four touchdowns.

At GVSU, Sanders will play free safety where he has outstanding ball skills and is a sure tackler. Also a great student, he carries a 3.7 gpa and a 24 on his ACT.
