GVSU Gains Commitment from Traverse City OL

If games are won and lost up front, Grand Valley State should be fine for awhile. The Lakers signed several offensive lineman in last year's class and today, picked up their fourth OL commit in the 2009 class.

In a short while, Jake Carra will come down 131 and join the Grand Valley State football team. The Traverse City Central lineman committed to the Lakers today, becoming the fourth offensive lineman the team has brought into the 2009 class.

"They have been #1 on top of my list for awhile," Carra exaplined, "They're an established program, the best in D2. The facilities, the coaches, everything there is great."

The 6'3, 270-lb Carra says the Lakers plan to have him on the interior of the offensive line either at center or guard.

He had a great senior season, making All-State, All-Conference and the Traverse City Record-Eagle's Dream Team. He also considered offers from Northwood, Ashland, Butler, Valpo and Hillsdale before choosing the Lakers.

Like many high school players this time of year, the culmination of the recruiting process brings with it a feeling of relief.

"It feels great," Carra said, "I've been under a lot of stress the last couple weeks trying to figure out where I would be going. A big burden was lifted and now I just have to move on to Signing Day."
