Chuck Martin Heads to Notre Dame

It had been rumored, but today, stories came out saying that Grand Valley State University head coach Chuck Martin would be joining Brian Kelly at Notre Dame to be the defensive backs coach.

Chuck Martin will be joining Brian Kelly at Notre Dame after a 74-7 career head coaching record at Grand Valley State University. His .914 winning percentage was second in the country among active head coaches (across all divisions) with at least five seasons of head coaching experience.

During his time as a head coach at GVSU, Martin collected two national championships (2005 and 2006) and five GLIAC championships (2005-2009).

While no candidates have been rumored to replace Martin as the head coach at Grand Valley State, current defensive coordinator Matt Mitchell is seen as a favorite, being the longest tenured assistant on the Laker staff and the current defensive coordinator.
