Future Lakers at this Weekend's All-Star Game

Five West squad members and three East squad members will be representing Grand Valley State University at this Saturday's MHSFCA All-Star Game at Spartan Stadium.

Grand Valley State University will be well-represented at this year's Michigan High School Football Coaches Association All-Star Game at Spartan Stadium on Saturday, as eight future Lakers will be participating in the contest.

On the West squad will be Chris Robinson (TB, 6-0, 205, Ovid-Elsie), Keontre Miskel (DB, 6-2, 175, Muskegon Mona Shores), Jordan Beachnau (QB, 6-0, 185, Holt), Antonio Hutchins (TB, 5-10, 200, Portage Northern), and John Kamps (DL, 6-4, 240, Zeeland East).

Robinson is perhaps one of the more decorate athletes to come to GVSU, as he set multiple career records in the state of Michigan, including being named Player of the Year this past season in the state.

On the East squad representing the Lakers will be Bobby Wunderlich (DB, 6-2, 185, Troy), John Westfall (OG, 6-4, 270, Milford), and Matt Judon (DL, 6-3, 225, West Bloomfield).

Judon is coming to GVSU from the same high school that turned out Danny Richard, the Lakers' top defensive lineman and All-American, and appears on film to have the same tenacity that Richard has brought to Grand Valley State for the past three seasons.

All week long, the players have been practicing with their teams, and the MHSFCA has taken the time to interview some of these men. Below are links to some of the future Lakers' interviews from this week:

Jordan Beachnau - QB - Holt

Matt Judon - DL - West Bloomfield

John Kamps - DL - Zeeland East

Keontre Miskel - DB - Muskegon Mona Shores

Chris Robinson - RB - Ovid-Elsie

John Westfall - OG - Milford

Bobby Wunderlich - DB - Troy

The game kicks off at Spartan Stadium on Saturday (June 19) at 3:30 p.m. Tickets are five dollars and will be available at the gate on game day.
