Garth Looking at GVSU

Southfield (Mich.) outside linebacker/safety Carthel Garth camped at Grand Valley recently. What were his impressions?

Southfield High has a talented team, and three of the Blue Jays' best players were at the Grand Valley State one-day recently: running back Daevon Robinson, guard Darian Miles, and safety Carthel Garth.

Garth, a 5'11, 185-lb rover, could play outside linebacker as well in college, but had a big junior year after transferring from Detroit Henry Ford. He has schools like Toledo, Western Michigan, and others have shown interest, but no offers have come his way yet.

He says depending on what happens, the Lakers will be on his list.

"I liked it a lot. If i don't go D1, I most definitely would want to go there."

From the sounds of it, GVSU would say the feeling is mutual.

"The running backs coach (and Garth's area recruiter Eddie Brown) liked me a lot. He liked how I flew around to the ball and took angles on the running back."

Another part of Garth's visit he enjoyed was seeing the indoor facility.

"It's better than a lot of D1 schools. It's marvelous!"
