Baseball: Bows down Bulldogs, 4-1

Hawaii ends road trip with a win over Louisina Tech.

RUSTON, La. - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (19-19, 2-13 WAC) defeated the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (12-22-1, 5-10 WAC) 4-1 in front of a crowd of 1,164 at J.C. Love Field. Chris George (5-5) pitched a complete-game victory, giving up just four hits and one run while striking out a career-high 12 batters. Casey Adams (0-2) took the loss for the Bulldogs.

Rocky Russo provided all the offense needed, hitting a two-run home run. Brian Bock added a 2-for-2 day with a double and one RBI while Josh Green went 2-for-3.

The Rainbows again jumped out to an early lead on the Bulldogs as Russo hit a two-run home run over the centerfield fence to put UH up 2-0. Bock then came back to add a run on a sacrifice fly that went deep to leftfield, extending the lead to 3-0.

Schafer Magana then sacrificed in another run the top of the sixth before Wade Robinson hit a home run for the Bulldogs. But that was all that George would, giving the 'Bows the 4-1 victory.

The Rainbows will return home to Honolulu tomorrow and will face the UH-Hilo Vulcans at 6:35 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15. Hawai`i will then host the Fresno State Bulldogs April 18-20 in a Western Athletic Conference series.
